​On May 16th, 2024, a debate titled "The death penalty should be abolished." was held under the auspices of the FLS Deanship-HQ. The participating teams were AOU-Kuwait, arguing for the affirmative, and AOU-Oman, arguing the opposing viewpoint. Professor Aziz Thabet Saeed, Dean of the Faculty of Language Studies (FLS), appointed a three-member judging panel from three different Campuses to assess the teams' performance. In their closing remarks, all judges and the FLS Dean acknowledged the strong arguments presented by both teams. Ultimately, AOU-Kuwait team was declared winner.  The contest was attended by many faculty members from both campuses including the PCs of ELL. It was also attended by Prof. Mohammed Al-Badi, President of the University in Oman.
